As the old saying goes, 2 brains are better than one. The same thing can be said for life experiences and in this case, management experiences.
A blog like DGM is only as good as the content. Thankfully, over its short lifespan I’m happy to see that there are a good number of folks paying attention. Almost every post has resulted in a handful of comments and I’ve had the pleasure of meeting other people who are passionate about trying to be great managers. If you are one of those passionate people, I’m willing to bet you have something to share. Now is your chance to be heard.
Damn Good Manager is looking for fellow managers on the quest to being damn good at their job. We’re looking for tips, tricks, stories, or pretty much anything that will help others along the way. Have you read any good management books or articles lately? Have you had a breakthrough with a management problem? Have you helped your team through a rough patch? Have you made a mistake and learned from it? DGM wants to hear about it and share the spotlight (er.. maybe more like the flashlight) with you.

So it looks like the Wordpress nerdy backend stuff is finally at a point that I can shift focus over to actually writing some content for this site. To be honest, the nerdy stuff was nice and easy and the thought of starting to writing is causing me to procrastinate a little. That being the case I figure I might as well channel a little GTD goodness and make a list of things that need to be accomplished. In terms of articles this is what I have in mind so far…
- The Self-Aware Manager
- Please and Thank You - my secret weapon
- Motivation in times of upheaval and change
- The 5 minute second interview (it’s all about cultural fit)
- You’ve heard about “The People’s Champion” how about “The People’s Manager”
- So you’re a manager - now what?
Those are the topics I’ve been noodling over the last little while. We’ll have to wait and see how they evolve into actual articles. Fingers are crossed (at least until I fall into my writing groove).

Yep this is the first post of many here at Damn Good Manager. Right now the site is absolutely in construction mode. Wordpress is up and running, the base theme is installed, but there is a lot more to do before I’ll consider us “fully moved in.”To-do:
- Install and configure spam plugin
- Contact and submission form to allow readers to suggest new topics
- Take a first crack at the categories I’m planning on covering
- Write the About Us page
- Install the iPhone plugin
- Segment Adsense to report on DGM vs my other blogs
- Configure Feedburner
- Configure Google Analytics
- etc, etc, etc…
Hopefully I should be ready to start writing articles this weekend. The plan (initially) is to post at least one solid post per week and more than that if I’m feeling particularly inspired from time to time. Quality over quantity is the name of the game.
